DIRECTORS CIRCLE

The V&A is a family of museums dedicated to the power of creativity. Their mission is to champion design and creativity in all its forms, advance cultural knowledge, and inspire makers, creators and innovators everywhere.

The V&A Directors' Circle is a membership program that offers exclusive access to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Members receive a range of benefits, including going behind the scenes with access to conservation studios and archives, visiting access to the leading art and design studios and private collections.

The Director’s Circle were invited to an in-conversation event with Ozwald Boateng, OBE, at his Savile Row showroom. Boateng has had a transformational impact on men’s fashion, having begun making his bespoke suits in the 1980s and opening his eponymous store in 2002. He is widely credited with introducing Savile Row tailoring to a new generation, fusing traditional British techniques with textiles and colours inspired by his Ghanaian heritage. Sonnet Stanfill, V&A Senior Curator of Fashion, spoke to Boateng about his illustrious career, which has recently seen him design the new staff uniforms for British Airways.
